How Marky works
Three steps to mark an entire class set of papers. Upload, mark, and share results in minutes, not hours.
Upload your mark scheme and papers
Upload the official mark scheme first, then the class set. Scan the papers or photograph them on a phone. Marky accepts PDFs and photographs directly, with no conversion required.
- PDFs and photographs accepted directly: .pdf from any scanner or document application, and .jpg, .png, .heic or .webp from a phone camera. Up to 200 MB per file, or a .zip archive for a full set
- Reads handwriting accurately using OCR trained on student handwriting
- Official mark schemes from AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR, WJEC/Eduqas and CCEA
- Full class sets or individual papers: a set of approximately 30 is returned in approximately one hour; a single paper on demand in approximately 15 minutes
AI marks every answer
Marky reads each answer, compares it against the mark scheme criteria, and assigns marks the way a trained examiner would.
- Over 99% of marks within two marks of a verified examiner across 3,276 GCSE, AS and A-level sections, with 92.4% marked exactly
- A class set back in approximately one hour, with every paper in the set marked together
- Detailed per-question feedback explaining where marks were awarded or lost
- Automatic grade conversion using configured grade boundaries per paper
Review and share results
Results arrive with scores, grades, and feedback. Share them with students through the portal, or export reports for parents and leadership.
- Review and adjust any marks before publishing results to students
- Student portal where each student logs in to view their results and personalised feedback
- PDF reports for parents, senior leadership, and school records
- Instant analytics showing grade distributions, weak topics, and class-level insights
What happens after marking
Marky does more than mark papers. It turns results into insight that teachers, students, and parents can act on.
