Can I try Marky before committing?
Yes. Every school gets a free 3-day trial covering 10 papers, with no card required and no obligation to continue. The papers can come from any class or subject, so there is no need to pick one group to test with. The three days start when the first paper is uploaded, not when the account is set up, so a trial cannot expire before the department has anything to mark. A trial that is set up and never used closes after 30 days. The individual Student Revision plan is separate and is paid by card. Get in touch to start.
How does the paper allowance work?
Each department buys a yearly bucket of papers at £1.20 each (minimum 1,000 papers, £1,200). One paper = one student script marked end-to-end, with all verification passes included, and re-marks and failed uploads never count twice. The allowance covers the whole academic year, so a busy mock month is no problem, because there are no monthly caps. Usage bars in the app and email alerts at 80% and 90% keep the department ahead of its budget, and you can top up from 30 papers, one class set, at the same £1.20 whenever you need. Unused papers expire at the end of the school year. Full billing, renewal and refund terms.
How do we pay?
However your school prefers. Most schools raise a purchase order and pay our invoice by bank transfer, one PO a year per department, since budgets are held there. Admins can also buy paper top-ups instantly by card in the app. Families paying for the individual Student Revision plan pay by card, managed and cancelled online any time.
What happens if a department uses up its allowance?
You'll never be surprised: teachers and admins see live usage bars, and admins get alerts at 80%, 90% and 100%. At the limit, your school chooses the behaviour: pause grading until a top-up, or keep going with extra papers billed at the same £1.20 (no penalty rate). Top-ups take effect immediately.
What do student accounts add?
For £20/student/year (less at volume), every student gets the AI study toolkit across all their subjects: the AI tutor, practice exam generation with AI marking, flashcards with spaced repetition, adaptive practice and guided revision, all governed by fair-use daily and monthly limits students can see in their portal. Optionally, schools can also let students self-mark real past papers from a school-controlled paper pool at £1.20/paper, and student self-marking never touches a teaching department's allowance.
Can students or parents subscribe directly?
Yes, with their own personal Marky account, completely independent of any school: sign up with a personal email (13+), pick your subjects, and upload your own past papers and mark schemes to study and self-mark against. £14.99/month or £99/year, every supported subject included (Maths, Biology, Chemistry & Physics), which compares to £30 to £50 per month per subject elsewhere. Do you offer discounts for Multi-Academy Trusts?
